About Timber Frame Repairs

Whether its in the town centre of Devizes or in and around our Wiltshire villages, there are many fine examples of ancient timber framed buildings. One of the challenges of old timber buildings is that the frames between the brick panels and, sometimes, even the principle cover posts, rot.  This is usually caused by timbers being painted with gloss paint which traps moisture within the frame.

At Brackstone Builders, our experts sympathetically splice in and carry out repairs, using green oak or air dried oak depending on the best product for the particular job. These project often require structural propping and can mean rebuilding panels -and lime mortar work often goes hand-in-hand with this type of work and, once again, our experience working with old buildings comes to the fore.
